Test Medics Labor AG offers high-quality medical laboratory services. In recent years, Medics has developed into a service provider with around 220 employees and is increasingly using web applications to not only forward laboratory results, but also to process data from couriers. The highly sensitive data led Medics to take a closer look at data protection. With a web application firewall solution from United Security Providers, this endeavor could be taken into account.
Laboratory results from Medics
Medics Labor AG was founded in 2002 and today operates under the motto “fast. accurate. practical.”. This describes the company’s core values of providing same-day results and precise laboratory results. For Medics, proximity to practices, doctors and care homes is very important. However, the security of the highly sensitive data entrusted to it is just as important to the service provider.
Securely protect sensitive data
Medics uses web applications to distribute the results of customers – i.e. doctors, surgeries and care homes – and to organize the couriers who deliver samples. Highly sensitive data is used in these web applications and special protection is required to keep personal information confidential. Medics was also aware of this and set out to find a suitable IT security partner.
Data protection with expertise
Medics Labor AG was interested in ensuring a first line of defense, i.e. being able to guarantee primary protection of all sensitive data. The Medics team has the expertise to manage such protection itself and therefore deliberately opted for a security solution that can be managed autonomously.
The web application firewall of the USP Secure Entry Server® meets these requirements perfectly, so Medics decided to work with the cyber security specialist United Security Providers. It was important for the implementation of the project that Medics can work with a highly available environment, as doctors, for example, need to access the systems at all times.
United Security Providers played a supporting role in the project and assisted with the implementation and configuration of the web application firewall. This enabled the various applications of Medics Labor AG to be successively placed under the protection of the USP Secure Entry Server®.

Implementation was straightforward and the system is now up and running. Medics Labor AG can ensure the protection of laboratory results and patient data through the web application firewall of the USP Secure Entry Server®.
